Today discrimination is still an issue, but not as much as it was back then. Our ancestors have fought for us to have this and even have our first African American President. We still have racist people out in the world, but we also have people fighting to change that. I believe that racism is an issue that African Americans continue to face everyday, but it is not only African Americans face racism. Many other races continue to face unnecessary problems and stereotypes. Black codes have had a true impact on me as well. If I had never learned about black codes, I wouldn't be as strong about the topic and be able to fight for gender and racial equality. Learning about the struggle that African American went through only makes me appreciate everything I have now and that I don't have many racist people in my life. I thank all of those who have fought for our liberty today.
